Now I know my last post may have come across a little harsh when first read. I’d like to take a moment to explain why. I was raised and lived most of my life in Orange County. Although many shows like The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Hills glamorize the rich and ‘famous’ people with that OC zip code, there are other cities that don’t have private beach communities within Orange County. One of the less entitled cities includes my hometown of Buena Park. It is a place where families instill work ethic and graciousness in their children. I like lovingly refer to Buena Park as the Long Beach of Orange County. Where kids were taught things are earned; not handed to you. My mom and dad taught me how to get a job and keep it. They taught me how to be grateful for the work you are given and to appreciate the job you have. My neighbors raised their families the same way, and my friends are much like me; working hard for what they have and living life within their means. Although the grass will always be greener no matter what city, state, or country you live in, our neighbors in the more Southern Orange County cities seem to have the idea that their grass is the greenest and expect everyone to water it for them. After watching the ‘wanna be real housewives’ in action everyday, I can’t help but to be ever thankful for my family raising me with a moral compass and values. Thanks mom and dad. And thanks Buena Park, for keeping it classy.
